In response to input from parents, guardians, student representatives and staff, we are implementing a change to some student email accounts. Email addresses are provided to students for learning purposes, and email usage should reflect that focus.

Starting Oct. 28, 2026, the following changes will take effect for primary and middle school students:

Primary school students

Students in kindergarten through fourth grades will no longer be able to use their school email accounts. They will still be able to collaborate with their classmates and teachers using Google Docs, Google Classroom and other Google tools.

Middle school students

Students in fifth through eighth grades will no longer be able to email classmates using their battlegroundps.org email addresses. We believe that this change will help limit misuse, facilitate appropriate boundaries and encourage students to use email responsibly.

Middle school students will still be able to do a variety of things using their school email and associated Google account:

  • Students can still send emails to and receive emails from their teachers and school staff.

  • Students will still be able to collaborate with their classmates and teachers using Google Docs, Google Classroom and other Google tools.

  • Students will still receive notifications related to state testing.

These changes will not affect students who attend alternative learning environments.

Our focus remains on preparing students for their future education and the workforce. We believe that these changes will help students learn how to use communication tools thoughtfully.
