Due to the loss of levy funding, our district must make $20 million in budget cuts for the upcoming school year. Because the district does not receive any state funding that is specifically designated for athletics, some athletic programs may be affected even with an increase in sports participation fees to help offset costs.

The impacted sports have a cost to rent or access facilities that the district does not own. These sports include boys and girls golf, gymnastics, boys and girls swimming and bowling.

We recognize that these are valuable athletic opportunities for our students, and our hope is to continue offering them. However, these sports will only be offered if we can meet minimum participation numbers and receive enough donations to cover costs.

The following donation goals will support both Battle Ground and Prairie high schools’ programs and, where applicable, both boys' and girls' teams. This approach helps ensure compliance with Title IX requirements for athletic opportunities.

Conditional offerings for 2026-27

Boys & girls golf
Donation goal: $5,000 to cover course fees for Tri Mountain and Pine Crest|
Minimum student participation: 10 athletes per school or 14 athletes districtwide

Gymnastics

Boys & girls swimming

To register for one of these sports, please log into Final Forms.

Deadlines

Both the participation requirement and fundraising goal must be met by the applicable deadline for a sport to be offered.

  • Golf and swimming registration and fundraising deadline: Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 9 a.m. This deadline allows fall sport scheduling to occur in a timely manner.

  • Bowling and gymnastics registration and fundraising deadline: Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 9 a.m. Because these are winter sports, this deadline is later in the school year.

Donations

Families and community members who wish to support these programs may wish to make a contribution of any amount through InTouch Receipting.

Please note: Donations toward a specific sport will remain in that sport’s account until the goal is met and the sport can be offered. Donations will not be redirected to other Associated Student Body or athletic needs.

Our district remains committed to finding creative solutions and partnering with families to preserve meaningful opportunities for students. Thank you for your continued commitment to Battle Ground Public Schools students.
