The D.R.E.A.M. Teams at Chief Umtuch, Tukes Valley and Pleasant Valley middle schools, sponsored by Prevent Together: Battle Ground Prevention Alliance, hosted Prevention Convention: The Way to Wellness on March 13, 2025, at Washington State University Vancouver. The event was designed to empower middle school students with knowledge and tools to support their social, emotional and physical wellness.
This inaugural event brought together 150 Battle Ground middle school students for a day of learning, connection and fun. Highlights included a keynote address from Xander Cook, a nationally recognized youth trainer and public speaker specializing in youth leadership and prevention. Students also participated in interactive workshops covering topics like healthy friendships, self-care strategies, emotional wellness and balancing social life while respecting personal boundaries.
In addition to workshops, students engaged in hands-on activities designed to build practical skills for supporting overall wellness. The event provided opportunities for students to connect with experts, collaborate with peers and make new friends along the way.
Thanks to the support of local volunteers, school staff and community partners, Prevention Convention: The Way to Wellness plays an important role in shaping the future of our youth by equipping them with the tools and support they need to make healthy choices and lead balanced lives.
