The Employee Recognition Awards highlight staff members who embody the district’s values and commitment to student learning. Nominations are open to every staff member in Battle Ground Public Schools. The selection criteria include commitment to the district’s mission, contribution to a safe environment, support for high-quality instruction and collaborative behavior demonstrating trust and respect. Carie Anderson, speech language pathologist at Daybreak Primary School
Carie's dedication to supporting students shines brightly at Daybreak Primary School. Her collaborative work with the special education preschool teacher has been instrumental in helping students meet their communication goals. Carie goes above and beyond by developing individualized supports, including training staff on AAC devices, creating tactile schedules and preparing visual aids. Her professionalism and compassion inspire both colleagues and families. Carie is truly deserving of recognition for her outstanding work.

Sandy Coy, secretary at Laurin Middle School
Sandy Coy is hands down one of the most welcoming and warm staff members at Laurin Middle School. Her dedication to coordinating the Helping Tree is an incredible example of her compassion and commitment. Through this initiative, Sandy ensures that all students can experience the joy of the holidays while protecting their privacy and dignity. She truly is a gift to the school, its students and the families she supports.

Becky DeRanieri, teacher at Tukes Valley Primary School
Becky DeRanieri leads with strength, compassion and encouragement. She consistently gives her best to her students and school, overcoming challenges with grace and resilience. Becky’s dedication and positive attitude make her a true inspiration to her colleagues and students alike. She represents what it means to be a leader and a role model in education.

Jean is a vigilant and compassionate presence in her school community. She consistently watches out for children’s safety, demonstrating both knowledge and kindness. Her sweet demeanor and dedication to her role bring joy and comfort to those around her, making her an invaluable asset to her school.

Jack Webb, bus driver 
Jack Webb exemplifies care and dedication in his role as a bus driver for the district. Recently, he demonstrated this dedication by holding the hand of a young student and walking them to school alongside an aide. His thoughtful and caring gesture reassures parents and staff that our students are truly in good hands. Jack’s actions reflect his commitment to the safety and well-being of every child in his care.
