Daybreak’s Remote Learning Schedules

Students attending classes via Zoom will have to sign in using their school email account.

We will be using Google Classroom for remote instruction.

Primary School Schedules

Daily Schedule for Primary Students
We want ALL of our students in BGPS to be able to continue learning during this time at home. By providing our students with daily opportunities to engage in rigorous, appropriately-leveled, learning experiences, we remain committed to and connected with our students and families.

Structure helps children feel safe and supported. Below is the remote learning schedule for primary school students.

Classes are divided into two groups for direct instruction via Zoom software on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Half will have class time with their teacher in the morning, while the other half will have class time in the afternoon.

Class time is comprised of four 30-minute blocks with time for literacy, math, specialists, social-emotional learning and movement breaks. When students are not learning with their teachers, they will be directed to work independently on assignments or in small groups with staff. Time is built in for special education, EL and interventions during independent work time. Students will be assigned to either an AM or PM direct instruction group, with some flexibility for families to make a switch if that is best for their schedules.

Completion of Assigned Work
Students have the flexibility to complete the posted lessons throughout the week and when it is convenient for the child and family.  Please communicate with your classroom teacher about assignment results in order to inform next steps.

Grading
Teachers will assign marks for all academic subject areas, including those covered during remote learning.

Questions
It is likely that there will be questions as we move through this process.  Parents and students can contact their teacher via any of the following ways:

  1. Call their classroom teacher’s district phone number/extension and leave a message;
  2. Email the classroom teacher;
  3. Check-in (electronically) with the classroom teacher during their posted office hours.

Tech Support
At any given point in time, students and families can get Tech Support by first contacting the classroom teacher, then by emailing: studenthelp@battlegroundps.org or calling: (360) 885-5465.

Middle School Remote Learning Schedule

Daily Schedule for a Middle School Student
We want ALL of our students in BGPS to be able to continue learning during this time at home. By providing our students with daily opportunities to engage in rigorous, appropriately-leveled, learning experiences, we remain committed to and connected with our students and families.

Structure helps children feel safe and supported. Below is the schedule for middle school students.

Middle school students will follow a framework with direct instruction occurring for half the day, and the other half reserved for independent assignments or small group work with staff. Students will attend half of their classes on Monday and Thursday and the other half on Tuesday and Friday, with Wednesday set aside for teacher office hours, individual intervention or small group time within each class period (similar to Tiger Time/Falcon Support). Time is built in for special education, EL and interventions during independent work time. The middle or high school schedule still could be adjusted to move direct instruction to the afternoon hours to align with partner programs (Cascadia Technical Academy) and/or accommodate for bandwidth with the number of students simultaneously online at home.

Students on IEPs, English Learners (EL), and students who receive academic interventions will receive additional communications and information as the start of the school year approaches.

Grading
Teachers will assign marks for all academic subject areas, including those covered during remote learning.
